The use of the didactic project in gymnasium teaching

The use of the didactic project in gymnasium teaching

 Ilona Żeber-Dzikowska

For most of the teachers, the educational project is a multi-methodological way of teaching, it means that it uses many methods of teaching in the didactic process; it shapes many skills as well as integrates the knowledge of different disciplines (subjects). In the project, the student’s individual work plays the most important role in order to realize definite tasks or enterprises. The content-related research conducted among teachers showed that the educational project dealing with the regional subject matters is an essential element of teaching, moreover, it is a willingly used form of cooperation with students. The subject matter realized in the form of teaching is, to some extent, limited and everything should be done to broaden and extend it so as to avoid basing the subject matters of
regional projects only on sights of the nearest area, but to base them on eco-development and regional economy.
It is good that the strategy of the project is popular with teachers as well as it is willingly employed in the didactic and educational processes, moreover, it is positively referred to by students.

The level of students awareness and their attitude towards the natural environment

The level of students awareness and their attitude towards the natural environment

 BOŻENA WÓJTOWICZ

The characteristic feature of the human education is the openness to the whole society in the world today. The arranged educational programmes (syllabuses) for all age groups aiming at revitalizing the environment, emphasize the significance of the change in the sphere of the lifestyle. It especially deals with the reduction of the consumption
and the careful economical management in the field of the natural sources. The aim of this study was to determine the educational attitudes presented among the surveyed students specified, among others, by the human approach towards the nature in terms of the moral obligation, as well as the estimation of the respondents’ willingness to undertake individual actions for the sustainable development. The outcomes allow to express a positive assessment of the attitudes towards the environment among the students of the exact science and a little bit worse among the students of humanities. Most of the respondents demonstrated the attitudes characterized by the awareness of their personal attachment to the natural world, the sense of its importance in the human’s life, the need of balance
in the sphere of the human – nature relations as well as their willingness to take appropriate actions in favour of its protection in accordance with the principles of the sustainable development.

Natural changes in ecosystems under the influence of wildfires

Natural changes in ecosystems under the influence of wildfires

 Bogusław Wiłkomirski, Piotr Gutry

Wildfire is any uncontrolled fire occurring in different ecosystems. Degradation of environment and drought are among the most important reasons of wildfires. Any wildfire influences on environment, mostly by high temperature, and the effect can be observed on the field of changes of soil physical and chemical features, environmental xenobiotics level and animated nature. The most important changes of soil features include the variations in levels of organic matter, nitrogen and phosphorus, as well as the changes in soil reaction. Among the environmental results of wildfires, the increasing of the xenobiotics concentration and greenhouse gases amount can be observed. The most important organic pollutants originating from wildfires are polyaromatic hydrocarbons, which are known as highly toxic and carcinogenic compounds. In animated nature wildfire cause either fast biotic effects and adaptations or long lasting effects. The above effects are of more concern in plant world.

“The locomotive stands on the station”, that is environmental pollution connected with railway transport

“The locomotive stands on the station”, that is environmental pollution connected with railway transport

 Bogusław Wiłkomirski

The increasing number of people, as well as the extending civilizing and technological requirements constrain the progress of different types of transportation, which inevitably lead to contamination of the areas located in the vicinity of transportation routes. As a result of these events the increase of xenobiotics in the environment is observed. The road and railway transportations are the main types of land carriage. The harmfulness of road transportation was described in details both in original and review papers. The scientific literature concerning the contamination caused by the railway is poorer and some aspects connected with this problem need further investigations. In the present study the influence of railway transportation on the increase of organic and inorganic contamination of the areas surrounding the railway lines and infrastructure was presented. The polyaromatichydrocarbons (PAHs) and heavy metals are especially taken into consideration, because they are the most important pollutants emitted by this type of transportation.

Some problems of air pollution

Some problems of air pollution

 STANISŁAW SALA, IGOR ZINKO

The health effects of air pollution have been subject to intense study in recent years. Exposure to pollutants such as airborne participate matter and ozone has been associated with increases in mortality and hospital admissions due to respiratory and cardiovascular disease. Air pollution have negative influence on the Earth. These effects have
been found in short-term studies, which relate day-to-day variations in air pollution and health, and long-term studies, which have followed cohorts of exposed individuals over time. In this review, we present effects on health and environmental of air pollutants.
